Better Go Mad in the Wild Wins the Grand Prize at KVIFF 2025

We are proud and delighted to announce that the latest film by director Miro Remo, Raději zešílet v divočině, has won the Grand Prize at the 59th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival (KVIFF 2025). This remarkable achievement confirms Miro Remo’s strong position on the contemporary European film scene while bringing well-deserved international attention to a film that captivated both the jury and festival audiences with its authenticity, playfulness, and deep psychological insight.

Created under demanding conditions and with a strong emphasis on naturalness and inner truth, the film offers an intense cinematic experience. Raději zešílet v divočině is a playful documentary exploring the boundaries of freedom, isolation, and the human desire to escape societal norms. With both sensitivity and uncompromising honesty, the director captures the existential struggles of individuals in confrontation with nature as well as themselves.

The festival jury particularly praised the film’s directorial courage, original storytelling approach, and its ability to create a powerful, immersive atmosphere. In its official statement, the jury noted:

“An amusing cinematic postcard celebrating the vanishing art of remaining true to oneself. This strikingly inventive documentary portrays two constantly bickering twin brothers living an eccentric life on a dilapidated farm far from civilization. In times as crazy as ours, they may well be the sanest people on earth. Raději zešílet v divočině admiringly captures their way of life and the raw forms of brotherly love. It takes filmmaking risks that feel like a breath of fresh, forest-scented air… In short, it is a feeling of freedom.”
